About Me

I consider myself as a lifetime student. I am committed to learn from our vast collection of knowledge, but mainly from nature. As a geologist, I passionately study all science subdisciplines that help explain the origin and evolution of the Earth. However, my research studies mainly focus on the nucleation and evolution of rift systems. I have been applying different geophysical techniques, especially potential field methods to investigate how rift basins such as the Broadly Rifted Zone in Southern Ethiopia and the Turkana Rift in Kenya evolved to their present forms. I also study characteristics of multi-scale fractures with predictive modeling techniques.

I drive immense pleasure from applied geology. In the past, I worked as an Exploration Geologist looking for epithermal gold deposits in one of the hottest places on Earth, the Afar Depression, East Africa. Recently, I worked as a Petroleum Geologist identifying potential oil and gas prospects within the state of Kansas. And currently, I work at a consulting firm that does geoengineering and near surface geophysics work. From my work experience, I learned and continue to learn so much about geoengineering and exploration techniques of prospecting hydrocarbons and metalliferous targets.

As the embodiment of knowledge is validated through teaching, I love sharing what I learned through various forms. While serving as the Graduate Teaching Associate at Oklahoma Sate University, and later as an adjunct instructor at Northern Oklahoma College, I tried to teach my students the power of reasoning and the importance of asking critical questions. I believe that the simplest problem is always the hardest to solve. A genuine scientist always begins at the beginning and never takes any premise for granted since revolutionary ideas are most of the time hidden in their simplest forms.

Burst of Insights is, therefore, the extension of my desire to share ideas. Not only of mine, but also other scientist, students, and interested public figures. As such, Burst of Insights is committed to spreading the essentials of science through articles, interviews, lectures, and book reviews.
